Jim Hacker is the managing partner of Hacker Murphy LLP and concentrates his practice in personal injury and commercial litigation. He is a graduate of Hamilton College 1981 and Albany Law School 1984 where he currently serves on the Board of Trustees. He is a member of the American and New York Bar Associations and serves as a Regional Vice President for the Academy of Trial Lawyers. Jim is a past president of the Capital District Trial Lawyers.

Mrs. Ryba was previously with the firm of Nixon Peabody and also Assistant Attorney General for the State of New York Litigation Bureau where she has direct responsibility for all phases of complex litigation including trials. Her prior public service includes appointments first as General Counsel and then as Deputy Director for the City of Albany Community Development Agency, where she managed a staff of forty and millions of dollars in federal, state, and locally funded urban renewal programs that support home ownership for low-to-moderate income households. She began her public service legal career with the City of Albany Corporation Counsel Office as an Assistant Corporation Counsel. She is a 1998 graduate of Skidmore College, Cum Laude, with a BA in Economics and a 2001 graduate of Albany Law School, with a Juris Doctor degree. She was admitted to the State of New York and U.S. District Court, Northern District of New York 2002 She is currently a member of the NYS Bar Association: Elected Delegate; Committee on Attorneys in Public Service; Albany County Bar Association: Board of Directors; Co-Chair, Committee on Attorneys in Public Service; Capital District Women’s Bar Association: Board of Directors; Chair, Judicial Task Force Committee; Member; Diversity Committee; Capital District Black and Hispanic Bar Association: Member Albany Law School, Alumni Board of Directors: Executive Committee member.
Daniel J. Hurteau | Vice President

Daniel J. Hurteau is a partner in the firm’s Business Litigation Department and a member of the Health Care Litigation, Alternative Dispute Resolution, and NP Trial® Teams. He currently focuses his practice on complex business litigation, including health care related practices, products and specialties. He has represented companies in the health care industry, pharmaceutical companies and health care providers, including hospitals, long term care facilities, physician practices and physicians in a variety of complex business and tort related actions. Mr. Hurteau is a graduate of Siena College and of Albany Law School.
Mr. Hurteau is admitted to practice in the State of New York and before the United States District Court of the Northern District of Texas and the Northern, Southern, Eastern, and Western Districts of New York. Mr. Hurteau is also admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court, Second Circuit. Mr. Hurteau is a charter member of the New York State Bar Association Committee on Alternative Dispute Resolution. Mr. Hurteau is Pro-Bono Liaison Partner for the Albany Office of Nixon Peabody LLP and is a Board Member of the Justice for All Campaign in Albany County through the Legal Aid Society of Northeastern New York. Mr. Hurteau is also on the Advisory Board of Directors for Big Brothers-Big Sisters of the Capital Region. Mr. Hurteau is a member of the Board for the Northeastern School of Ballet and recently joined the Board for Mediation Matters.

Michael McDermott is Shareholder at the Albany law firm of O'Connell and Aronowitz. His practice centers on representing plaintiffs in personal injury actions, criminal defense and general civil litigation. In addition to the practice of law, Mike has been an adjunct professor at Siena College and Southern Vermont College. He has lectured on legal issues for New York State Bar Association, the Albany County Bar Association, the Schenectady County Bar Association, the New York State Prosecutors Training Institute, Albany Law School and the National Business Institute. He is a graduate of Albany Law School and Siena College.

Douglas R. Kemp is an Assistant Attorney General with the New York State Office of the Attorney General, Claims Bureau. His practice is focused on defending the State of New York in tort litigation, including medical malpractice, wrongful death and premises liability claims, among others. He is a 1994 graduate of Syracuse University, with a B.A. in International Relations, and a 2000 magna cum laude graduate of Albany Law School. He is admitted to practice law in New York State as well as the U.S. District Court for the Northern, Southern, Eastern and Western Districts of New York, as well as the U.S. District Court for the Districts of Vermont and Massachusetts. Mr. Kemp is an Eagle Scout and Vigil Honor recipient, and currently serve as Scoutmaster of Troop 1075 in Delmar, New York.
