2020 has been a challenging year for everyone as we struggle to provide legal services for our clients while assuring everyone’s safety during this pandemic. Unfortunately, because of the safety concerns raised by COVID-19, we elected not to hold our Law Day Run, as we traditionally have done, during the month of May. While we were hoping that we might be able to hold the 2020 Law Day Run as an in-person celebration on September 10, 2020, it has officially been changed to a virtual only event. Nevertheless, the needs of those we assist have not diminished and we are hopeful that, even virtually, we can continue to support them with this event.

What:
A virtual 5K is your own "race" at your own pace on your own schedule! This one isn't about the fastest time, it's about making a difference in people's lives, one step at a time.

Where:
Since this 5K is virtual it can be done from any location you choose. The road, the trail - even the treadmill. Basically anywhere you can safely complete this while practicing the necessary social distancing precautions.

When:
ANY TIME beginning September 10, 2020 through September 16, 2020.

Why:
To bring our community together virtually so we can support the ever increasing need for legal services in our community. All proceeds of the Law Day 5K go to support the ACB Foundation's grant program intended for legal service providers throughout Albany County. Past grantees including organizations such as St. Catherine's Center for Children to provide child/parent visitation services, Equinox to provide needed items for private domestic violence shelters, Albany County Family Court's Help Center to provide support and training for lawyers so they can offer litigants with free brief advice and paperwork guidance on family law, In Their Own Voices to provide education and support for domestic violence situations in the LGBTQ (and more) community, Albany Law School to provide domestic violence legal services clinics and The Legal Project to provide rural legal outreach, to name just a few!

How:

1. Sign up here. You will receive confirmation and a prompt to print out your race bib. We will announce how to get your ACBA face mask soon!

2. Consider signing up a team to participate or to have a fundraising challenge!

3. Help us flood social media with support for the Foundation and the Grantees will support! Make sure to tag us on FaceBook @ACBAlawdayrun with images of your solo run/walk.

4. On your confirmation page - report your 5K run/walk time once you have finished. You can also try and beat your time and upload a new time during the week!

On behalf of our community, we thank you for ensuring to practice the necessary social distancing regulations while participating.
