The Albany County Bar Association Committee on Attorneys in Public Service (APS Committee), working in collaboration with the Capital District Black and Hispanic Bar Association, is pleased to organize and extend the invitation for members of the bar and bench to again participate in the Youth Law Day (YLD) to be held at Albany High School on November 2, 2018.  The APS Committee initiated the YLD program at Albany High School in 2011.  This year, under the leadership of Albany High School Principal Jodi Commerford, an outstanding opportunity will be afforded to high school students to meet public service attorneys, private practitioners, and judges, and to learn about the pathways to a career in the law.

Attorneys will be assigned to do a presentation during an approximate 40 minute class period.  You can choose to present for one or more class periods during the school day on November 2nd.  In addition to questions the students may be prepared to ask you based on their review of your bio, presenters will be asked to discuss their path to becoming a lawyer, challenges they faced and overcame, support they received from mentors along the way, the work they presently do, and provide advice on how students can best accomplish their goals to pursue higher education and law school for those interested in this profession.

Jason Breh, Leadership Academy Principal at Albany High, has graciously agreed to coordinate the YLD. Please email Mr. Breh at and include APS Committee member Hon. Helena Heath as a cc: recipient ( to express your interest in being a presenter, and send along a copy of your bio and indicate the class period/s you are available to present (class periods listed below; please identify your selection by class period number).

PLEASE EMAIL MR. BREH WITH A CC TO JUDGE HEATH BY FRIDAY OCTOBER 26th, 2018 so class assignments can be made and communicated to presenters before Friday November 2nd. THANK YOU!
